Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to set up, program, operate, and optimize CNC machining equipment in a precision manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate has strong technical machining skills, can interpret complex engineering drawings, perform machine setups and adjustments, and maintain high standards of quality and accuracy.

This position involves machining both short-run and long-run production parts, troubleshooting machining issues, optimizing CNC programs, and ensuring parts meet dimensional and quality specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and monitor CNC milling and turning machines to produce precision components.
  • Perform standard and complex machine setups, including tooling installation, tool offsets, workholding, and machine adjustments.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and bills of materials.
  • Develop, edit, and optimize CNC programs for machining operations, including multitasking mill-turn applications.
  • Conduct first-run program verification and prove out CNC programs to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient production.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and machining parameters based on part specifications and material requirements.
  • Inspect machined components using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection equipment.
  • Perform first-article and in-process inspections to ensure parts meet dimensional and quality requirements.
  • Troubleshoot machining problems, adjust processes, and improve cycle times, productivity, and part quality.
  • Maintain and update CNC programs, CAD/CAM databases, and digital part models as required.
  • Review and follow engineering documentation, including engineering change orders (ECOs) and bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to meet delivery schedules and manufacturing standards.
  • Minimum of 4 years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC milling machines and/or CNC lathes.
  • Experience with CNC programming, program editing, or machine-level programming.
  • Ability to perform first-time program run-throughs and verify machining operations.
  • Strong blueprint-reading and GD&T interpretation skills.
  • Experience selecting tooling, setting offsets, making machine adjustments, and troubleshooting machining issues.
  • Ability to perform quality inspections using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, tolerances, and quality standards.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a manufacturing team.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software and CNC program development.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks and machining-related digital models.
  • Experience with CNC machine quoting or estimating.
  • Previous experience operating or programming Makino machining centers, particularly A51NX, A55, or A66 models.
  • Experience with Haas VF4, VF6, or ST20 machines.
  • Familiarity with SMEC SL2000 or Nakamura-Tome AS-200L machines.
  • Experience with multitasking mill-turn machining and complex setups.
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods, up to 10 hours per shift.
  • Ability to perform hands-on machining tasks in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to follow workplace safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
